For many families, the word autism can bring uncertainty. Years ago, autism was often described in terms of deficits or limitations.
Today, our understanding has evolved.
Autism is a naturally occurring neurotype—a different way of experiencing, processing and responding to the world. It influences how a person communicates, connects with others, experiences sensory information, approaches routines and develops interests.
While autistic children often share certain characteristics, no two children experience autism in the same way.
Many autistic children are deeply curious, creative, thoughtful, honest and passionate about the things they love. Alongside these strengths, they may also experience challenges navigating environments that were not designed with their neurotype in mind.

An assessment is not about asking "What's wrong?" It is about understanding "What does this child need to flourish?"
Understanding Autism
Our approach
Looking beyond behaviours to understand your child.
Our assessments are neuroaffirming, evidence-based and child-centred.
Rather than measuring how well your child fits into a particular mould, we seek to understand how they naturally think, communicate, regulate, learn and experience the world.
We value differences as much as difficulties because understanding both allows recommendations to genuinely support your child.
Comprehensive Autism Assessment
Our comprehensive autism assessment includes:
✓ Initial parent consultation
✓ Tailored to age play based sessions
✓ Standardised questionnaires and assessment measures
✓ Liaison with school (where appropriate)
✓ Comprehensive diagnostic report
✓ A school recommendations letter (where appropriate) outlining practical, neuroaffirming supports to help educators better understand your child's needs.
✓ A personalised letter for your child or young person, written in strengths-based, age-appropriate language to help them understand their neurotype, celebrate their strengths and make sense of the way their brain works. This often becomes a valuable starting point for positive identity development and removes the pressure from parents to interpret a lengthy clinical report.
✓ 1.5 hour feedback session to discuss the findings and recommendations

The Assessment Process.
1. Initial consultation with Parent/ Carer
We begin by getting to know your child and your family.
We'll talk about your concerns, your child's development, strengths, interests, sensory experiences, friendships, learning and everyday life.
2. Gathering information
Autism cannot be understood from one appointment alone. We gather information from several perspectives, which include:
-
developmental history
-
parent questionnaires
-
teacher questionnaires
-
school reports
-
previous assessments
-
observations across different settings where appropriate
3. Clinical assessment
Assessment is tailored to your child's age, presentation and needs.
Rather than expecting children to perform in unfamiliar situations, we create opportunities to observe how they communicate, solve problems, play, interact and regulate in a supportive environment.
4. Comprehensive report
Following the assessment, you'll receive a detailed report outlining:
• your child's strengths
• areas where additional support may be helpful
• diagnostic conclusions (where appropriate)
• practical recommendations for home, school and everyday life
5. Feedback session
The assessment doesn't end with a report. We'll meet together to explain the findings in clear, meaningful language, answer your questions and discuss practical next steps that feel achievable for your family.
